Should children be raised to co-operate or to compete?

There are two ways that parents can use to raise their children so they become successful in their lives and get good place in the community. The first way is co-operation while the second is competition. In my opinion raising co-operation is better but competition is also important.

First of all, I will talk about co-operation. People need to co-operate with each other so no one can live alone. Teamwork is very important for the children that they can benefit from each other. In addition, they will improve their skills in communication. Furthermore, children will gain confidence and will be useful for the society in the future. Working in group will help children to strength friends’ relationships between themselves. Last but not least, they can co-operate in solving homework and studying for exams.

On the other hand, competition also is important thing that can add some fun for the class. It will encourage children to compete each other that they want to get high grades so they will get good jobs in the future. If someone is competitive, he will become creative and good leader for a team because competitive person does not accept loss. For example, competition in sports like playing football is vey fantastic that make players like the game.

In conclusion, both competition and co-operation are important for children. It helps them to get good positions in the future. In my opinion, co-operation is good but also competition is need.

Economic Growth & Environment Protection

Population growth is increasing daily all over the world and this will lead to economic increase. Economic growth means more harmful gases that affect our environment negatively in the future.

In most cases economic growth is good for a lot of people. Without doubt there are too many people living in remote areas and they hope to get opportunities to work and live in the cities. Economic growth will help those people to achieve their goals. They will find better paid-jobs so they can raise their standard of living. Nowadays a lot of children are growing up without education or health care. We hope that globalization can help those children to get a better life. In addition, economic growth will develop a lot of undeveloped countries and will raise civilization.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of disadvantages of this growth. Many scientists are warning that global warming will cause a real threat to our environment. Global warming is one of economic growth’s consequences. The most growing country is China and after that comes India. These two countries together have populations of two billion approximately. They have seen a massive economic growth in recent years. This growth alone will be enough to eliminate the environment. It is very difficult to control this growth since it began.

In conclusion, this seems to be a difficult problem facing our contemporary world. There is great interest in the economic growth and we can’t deny it, but it constitutes a real threat to the environment so we must think in a good way to stand in the face of this growth.

Population growth from 1750 to 2150

Population growth is increasing annually especially in the poor countries. The chart shows population growth in richer and poorer countries over 400 years from 1750 to 2150.

As we see the total world population was less than 1 billion in 1750. In addition, the population in the less developed countries was 3 or 4 times greater than in more developed countries. It increased slightly from 1750 to 1950 for both categories. By the year 2000 it increased sharply to 6.1 billion, mostly in less developed countries while it stayed at the same rate for more developed countries. The prediction is that by the year 2150 the population will increase to over 10 billion. The increase will be in less developed countries, in contrast to more developed countries where it will stay the same and maybe fall down a little bit.

In conclusion, it is estimated that the total world population will increase almost twofold to what we are now especially for less developed countries by the year 2150.

Should using mobile phones while driving be banned?

As we know, using a mobile phone while driving is a distractive thing. It is very difficult to focus on two things at the same time. This will reduce the speed of response for the driver.

Even using a mobile phone while driving is a dangerous thing; you should have one in your car for the emergency cases. For example, it is dangerous to drive alone at night so you should have a mobile to summon help from police in an emergency. Also if you are driving a long way to remote areas where there are no lights in the roads or a desert for example you may need help if your car breaks down.
Even though I said the above things, there is no real reason for using a mobile phone while you are driving because of course you will find a safe place to stop and answer your phone. Some drivers think that using hands-free is less distraction. In fact, using hands-free does not reduce the level of distraction because driving requires a lot of concentration. Most countries have banned using a mobile phone while driving and they give those fines because it has become a major problem worldwide. In the UAE, it is not allowed to use a mobile phone while you are driving in all cases.

In conclusion, a lot of research shows that using a mobile phone while driving is a cause of accidents. However, it is very important to have a mobile phone in your car but it is not necessary to use it except in emergency cases.

Traffic congestion in AD

Traffic congestion and parking problem are serious problems in Abu Dhabi. There are too many reasons which lead to these problems.

Increasing population growth in Abu Dhabi is the main reason. Too many people get cars either new or used and as we know Abu Dhabi is an island and doesn’t easily contain all these cars. Another reason is tourism which leads to the use of more taxis. Most taxi drivers are new and don’t have enough experience so they cause traffic congestion. New construction in Abu Dhabi is also a reason for traffic congestion. There are a lot of trucks and vans working inside Abu Dhabi. The last reason to be mentioned is the summer climate. It is too hot in the UAE during the summer so people can’t walk from one place to another. They should use cars to avoid the hot weather.

We can avoid these problems by finding solutions for it. Making overpasses and underpasses is a good solution to decrease traffic jams. Construct a metro will help a lot to get rid of these problems like what happened in Dubai last year. Underground parking is another solution to avoid these problems. The last solution is to relocate government departments and colleges and move them outside Abu Dhabi Island.

In conclusion, the best solution is to use a metro. This will solve both problems, traffic congestion and parking problems. In my opinion relocating government departments and colleges is a good solution but it will cost too much. I hope that traffic congestion will disappear in the near future.

Age of marriage

A few decades ago, many women were married between the age of 15 to 19, in Arab countries. The bar chart shows us the decline in the percentage of women aged 15 to 19 who are married.

The most dramatic features of the bar chart are the falls in the UAE, Kuwait, Libya and Tunisia. The lowest change was in Palestine over 4 decades.

The table chart shows us the age of first marriage in 14 countries. The highest age of marriage is in Kuwait, 29.6 while the lowest is in Iran, 24.4. On the other hand, the highest age of marriage for women is in Bahrain, 25.6 while the lowest is in Oman, 20.7. Iraq, Palestinian Territory and Saudi Arabia are almost the same in the age of marriage for both men and women.

The bar chart shows the percentage of women aged 15-19 who are married has fallen in all 6 Arab countries. The second graph seems to confirm this because in all countries the age of marriage for women was the early twenties, rather than the teens. In all countries men get married at the late age.

Hurrianes & Tornadoes

Hurricanes and tornadoes are very dangerous. They can cause a lot of damage and death. The table shows us some features of hurricanes and tornadoes. In this essay, I am going to talk about these features.

First, the minimum hurricane speed is 74 mph while the maximum is 200 mph. On the other hand, the tornadoes minimum speed is 40 mph while the maximum is 300 mph. The classification scale shows us that hurricanes are measured on the Saffer-Simpson C1-C5 while tornadoes are measured on the Fujita F0-F5 scale. When a hurricane occurs, it stays about 1 week. In contrast to tornadoes which just last a few minutes, some up to a few hours. The average width of hurricane is about 300 miles while the tornadoes’ maximum width is 1.5 km. the average number of hurricanes per year is very high compared with tornadoes. The hurricanes can be predicted 2-3 days in advance and sometimes 6-10 hours while the tornadoes only 20 minutes or less in advance. Hurricanes usually start over warm oceans like Hurricane Katrina while tornadoes start over land.

In conclusion, hurricanes are more dangerous than tornadoes because of their duration and width and they can cause a lot of damage.
