The bar chart shows us the top ten date-producing countries, in 2001. Six countries are from Asia and the Middle East whiles the others from Africa.
First, Egypt took the lion's share of production with over 1 million tonnes while Libya took the last rank with 0.1 million tonnes. Iran came in the second rank with more than 0.8 million tonnes. The UAE produced approximately 0.8 million tonnes which is a little bit more than Saudi Arabia. Pakistan's production was exactly the same to Iraq's production with more than 0.6 million tonnes. Algeria's crop was half of the UAE's crop and produced approximately 400,000 tonnes. Finally, Oman supplied the world with nearly 250,000 tonnes while Sudan produced approximately 200,000 tonnes.
In conclusion, we can see that Egypt, Iran, the UAE and Saudi Arabia were the top four date-producing countries, in 2001. Egypt alone produced more than Algeria, Libya, Oman and Sudan together.
